Anime Review: Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works

Well it FINALLY came out. The money that all Type-MOON fans have been waiting for has finally came out to Blu-Ray. I finally got my eyes on this and watched it myself, so here goes what I thought of it..(please excuse me if I go fanboy at any certain moments...
Picture
First and foremost, Fate Stay Night originated from Type-MOON's visual novel, which eventually debuted it's anime which had the same name and was based off the "Fate" route. Fate Stay Night was 3 main routes. Fate, Heaven's Feel, and Unlimited Blade Works. "Fate" mainly is based around the character, Saber. Heaven's Feel is mainly based around the character, Sakura, and Unlimited Blade Works, is mainly based around the character, Rin, (in a girl-route perspective.) Which is why in this movie, you don't seem to see Saber as much of a hero, but of an extra. In addition, UBW also talks about Archer, and who he is. You eventually find out if you watch...

Oh, oops...spoiler...
BUT...if you haven't played or watched Fate Stay Night at all, here's the synopsis of it...there are "masters" and "servants" trying to compete in a secret battle to win what is called the "Holy Grail" kind of like a tournemant back in the medieval ages. Some servants are labeled as certain midieval players, like a swordsman, a spearman, an archer, and so forth (kind of like an MMO.) And masters give them power. If they lose their masters, they lose their chance to win the grail. So the main character, Emiya, Shirou, a semi-mage able to fortify certain objects and make them stronger, sometimes create them, stumbles upon a grail battle between Lancer and Archer with Rin as Archer's master and Lancer being an unknown. Lancer spots Emiya, and tries to kill him to trespassing the battle. Freaked out as Emiya was, he was praying for help and then out of the blue, Saber appears, thus the story starts...

UBW is a completely different experience compared to the original anime. If you thought the anime was terrible, then you're missing out on some spectacular animations and remade visuals. (Not to mention better Rin-service...,) What I liked better was they took away Gilgamesh's hunky armor and gave him something more modern day (as seen above,)  Taiga is...well...Taiga...maybe even moreso...and they demonstrate certains a little bit more clearer...like why Assassin just stayed there the whole time in just a few sentences instead of entire paragraphs...the rest I'll keep to myself...it's a gem of a movie, something that is of equal to the Kara no Kyoukai series. My only gripe would probably be is that there's only one movie, and I'm not sure what they will do for "Heaven's Feel." A definite 4.9 out of 5.
