Mission Start Podcast’s First Tabletop Game Review

Created by Chris Lesinski, Deck Around is a bluffing game in which a party of people must outwit their friends for points. The rules of the game are simple, The moderator will read a slang word or phrase, usually something that can be found on urbandictionary.com. The other players must write down, on their piece of paper, what they think the definition is. Now this is where the game gets tricky, you can play this from the standpoint of having fun and writing a definition that makes everyone laugh, or write a definition that allows you the ability to fool the other players into picking yours and giving you points. After all the definitions are read aloud, each player, going clockwise, will choose which one they think is the correct definition, if yours is picked by another player, you are awarded 1 point, if you choose the correct one, you are awarded 2 points. The moderator can be one person for the whole game or it can rotate clockwise, depending on if the moderator wants to play.

This game is just great fun, when having a few drinks, you can come up with some pretty raunchy stuff. The clever thing about this game is not all the definitions are dirty, a few are actually quite clean. But this can also be a problem because when all the cards are read aloud, it becomes painfully obvious which is the true definition. Now this could also be the group I played with but this is also the group I play other games such as Cards Against Humanity and Adult Loaded Questions with.

I truly loved playing this game, it was a great way to see how clever you can be and how clever your friends can be. When faced with a tough decision on which definition is the right one, you are allowed to discuss the cards. This is where the bluffing comes in. Trying to play mental gymnastics with your friends head and get them to choose your definition is a blast. The only downside to this is it can make the game last a lot longer and getting to definitions is the best part so be quick about it.

I highly recommend this party game for anyone trying to find a new way to lighten the mood in any situation. You can find this game on DeckAround.com for $35.99 or get just the full game in PDF format for $5.99, and whats even better is there is a free copy you download by visiting the site as well.
