-Anthony Beanes Director ![]() Anime Expo log, and mascots. Update: An Anime Expo volunteer who's manager works with the exhibitors for this year's convention has reached out to us regarding this story. One correction in regards to the selling of weapons at this year's Anime Expo. The vendor can display the weapons at the booth, but can not sell them directly, and hand over the weapon to the customer on the show floor. They can sell them, and have them ship out after the convention is over. (Original Story) With a week away from this year's Anime Expo event, Anime Expo as announced a ban on selling weapons as a vendor. In previous year's vendors were able to sell replica weapons in the dealers hall, and the customer would be able to receive the weapon inside the convention. Recently the Los Angeles Police Department has instructed Anime Expo to not sell weapons at the convention. ![]() Detailed in an email a vendor received from Anime Expo, the email lists the details of the ban. The weapon policy for Anime Expo states: "This includes firearms, knives, curio, relic, antique firearms, any form of ammunition, any item designed or manufactured with the intent to cause death or serious bodily injury, whether carried openly or concealed, even if any such weapons are inoperable or unusable, and irrespective of whether you are licensed to possess such weapon. Items that may otherwise be legal for you to own or carry are not welcome at any Event if they violate this Weapons policy. The following are examples of weapons that you CANNOT bring to an Event:FIREARMS, AMMUNITION, RIFLES, SHOTGUNS, HANDGUNS, BLOWGUNS, TAZERS, LASER POINTERS, LASER-AIMING DEVICES OR SIMILAR LASER DEVICES, EXPLOSIVES OR OTHER INCENDIARY DEVICES, KNIVES, LIVE BLADES/SWORDS (INCLUDING KATANA AND OTHER MARTIAL ARTS STYLE SWORDS), DAGGERS, SWORD CANES, SWITCHBLADES, BALI-SONG (BUTTERFLY) KNIVES, AXES, HATCHETS, METAL POLE-ARMS, CLUBS, WOODEN/METAL BATS AND PADDLES, HUNTING BOWS, ARROWS, NUNCHUCKS, BRASS KNUCKLES, WHIPS, PEPPERSPRAY/MACE, POWER TOOLS, STILTS, VUVUZELAS, ANY ITEM DESIGNED OR MANUFACTURED WITH THE INTENT TO CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY TO ANY PERSON OR PROPERTY, ANY ITEM THAT IS ILLEGAL IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, OR ANY ITEM THAT APPEARS, IN SPJA’S SOLE DISCRETION, TO BE DANGEROUS OR WHICH WOULD POSE OR PLACE OTHERS AT RISK OF HARM, IMMEDIATE OR OTHERWISE." While many people are worried for their cosplays that use weapon like props, this ban does not effect cosplayers. Again as stated in their weapon policy: Prop Weapons Are Allowed Only If They Are Peace-Bonded by Weapons Check. With the recent events of the incident at Phoenix Comic Con, this comes to no surprise of Anime Expo heightening security in all measures to make sure that there won't be a similar situation to happen at this year's Anime Expo. The only question left in this story is can vendors get a refund after finding out about this new information from Anime Expo who were planning to sell weapons at the convention. We reached out to Anime Expo for comment at this time. We will update this story as it develops.

Source Written by Gregg Dietz The Electronic Entertainment Expo, a place where all the big names in gaming come together and showcase their biggest, best and brightest. However, not everyone sees this event as “the Super Bowl of Gaming” or “The Most Important Thing in Gaming You Will Ever Need”. Sunday night, after the Bethesda Press Conference, Devolver Digital had a scheduled show. However, no one truly understood why since they don't really make AAA titles. But I and others were game to see what they had. We were not prepared for what came next. At first, it seemed that Devolver was just taking a light-hearted jab at press conferences as a whole. With the woman on stage garnering the attention of the audience by shooting a pistol in the air and having an intercut fake audience applauding all of this was very obvious to me as simple comedy. However, as she started talking, I noticed that it was becoming more than a simple jab at the over-the-top enthusiasm of these grandiose press conferences. After showing a few games that were already announced, we were treated to a sketch of sorts. This was the moment that the show became so much more than I thought. Making fun of E3 wasn’t enough -- Devolver needed to make fun of the internet as well. By having a literal way to throw money at the screen, it all seemed very obvious to me who was the target here. Then, the turn happened. It became a bloody affair and I was very confused as to what they were trying to do. During the Serious Sam trailer, i thought about what i was watching. Then it dawned on me -- absurdist comedy. It all made sense now. In the style of “Tim and Eric: Awesome Show Great Job,” “The Eric Andre Show,” the YouTube sensation “Don’t Hug Me: I’m Scared,” and Monty Python, I started to appreciate what I was seeing. The conference ended with a Scanners-esque head explosion. At this point, I finally understood everything I had seen. The downside to all of this was that not many people watched it. The Bethesda presser left such a bad taste in most E3 viewers’ mouths that they disconnected entirely. Those that ended up watching it were split. Something I’ve experienced with absurdist humor is that it’s certainly not for everyone. As I sat there thinking about what I had seen, I loved it more and more. As my good friend SlappyMeats stated “An aggressive parodic bit that takes the piss out of capitalistically informed institutional production? Sign me up!”. I couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s very much a shining beacon during such a heavy event. Thank you Devolver Digital. If you would like to take a break from the news barrage, the video to the whole show is below and runs about 15 minutes. With E3 just around the corner, a lot of speculations and leaks emerge. One such is that Microsoft is working on VR content including an MMO for both Xbox and PC. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to see Microsoft make a VR device for the Scorpio. There aren't any known details yet so let's use what we know about the company to see what it could be. I would love to see a Second Lifestyle world, sans all the creeps and sexual stuff. Entering a space with hundreds of people and playing mahjong with a stranger could be really fun. Or joining your buddies for a some gambling. Am I the only one or do you think it would be fun to try to play online blackjack with your virtual device? Imagine being able to walk into places that are scary in reality for some people but taking away that fear. Or allowing someone to visit places that are just too far away, I would to visit the Louvre but it's just simply out my reach. Sure, I can see all the art inside the Louvre on the internet but I can't really explore the museum. The other type of game it could be is an adventure style game. It seems very common to make a medieval fantasy MMO game these days but it's certainly possible. It might be better if it were post apocalyptic and humans developed abilities. It could be a space exploration game where you get to create how you look, including if you wanted to be a different species. I don't think we would get a No Man's Sky style game however cool that may be. There are thousands of possibilities of what it could be, and we've known about hololens for years now so they might have joined forces with Oculus or HTC to create an inexpensive console headset. I quite excited about all this and would love to see what you guys think it could be. Leave your ideas down below or let us know on our social medias.
