Anthony Beanes -Director Otakon has announced today, Yu Makino will be attending this year's Otakon in Baltimore, Maryland.  Makino began her career as a child actor at age 3. At age 4, she started playing piano, and her talent was discovered by film director Shunji Iwai at age 8, where she played incidental music for his film "Love Letter." Throughout the years, she has played for two more of his films, "All About Lily Chou-Chou" and "Hana and Alice." In April 2005, Makino debuted as a voice actress as Sakura, the main character of "Tsubasa Chronicle," while at the same time she pre-debuted as a singer with “Omna Magni,” the ending theme song for "Genesis of Aquarion." In August, she debuted as a singer with “Amrita,” which was the theme song for "Tsubasa Chronicle the Movie: The Princess in the Birdcage Kingdom." Since then, she has continued on to sing theme songs for anime, such as “Undine” for"ARIA The ANIMATION"; “Euforia” for "Aria The Natural"; “Sketchbook wo Motta Mama” for "Sketchbook ~full color’s~"; “Synchronicity” for "Tsubasa Chronicle: Tokyo Revelations" OVAs; “Spirale” for "Aria The Origination"; and "Sasayaki wa Crescendo” for "Francesca," to name a few. Otakon 2016 will be held August 12-14 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD. -Anthony Beanes Director  With only a few days away from 4th biggest anime convention in San Jose, there has been a change in the online registration system. We were notified from a cosplayer attending Fanime this year, about the changes to Fanime's registration system. There was an email that was sent out to attendees with the subject line, "FanimeCon/Clockwork Alchemy 2016 Final Confirmation e-mail", and the change in the email has stated the following information:  Fanime's registration system used CMR for the very long time, but recently Fanime has changed companies in regards of its registration process to a new company, Experient. On Fanime's website, Fanime has stated to bring in the following items receive a attendee badge. What to bring if you paid online: If you are attending fanime, and do not see the email regarding this change, please email fanireg@experient-inc.com for your barcode to present at Fanime. At this time, there has been no public announcement or post from Fanime regarding the change to the registration. We have reached out to Fanime for comment on this story, will update as this story continues to develop.
Anthony Beanes -Director  As Fanime is days away, Fanime has made an announcement this past week regarding their Art Gallery. Fanime has posted the following: We regret to officially inform you that Art Gallery will undergo a transition year and will not take place at FanimeCon 2016. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those that have participated in the gallery in the past and those that have expressed interest this year. While this may not hurt Fanime in the long run, it does add up to the already number of changes Fanime is going through this year. From the change of location for registration, the new registration system set up for hotels, the new standard of getting approved a table at the Artist Alley, and the new chair of fanime taking control, this convention leaves many to question what exactly is Fanime going to be this year.

Around an hour ago at this time, Anime Expo has announced a musical event called, "Anisong World Matsuri". All of the invited musical bands are going to perform at Anime Expo on July 2nd, and 3rd. The CEO of SPJA recently commented on new Anime Expo event, We’re very happy to collaborate with valued Japanese industry partners to create a memorable event,” said Ray Chiang, CEO of SPJA. “We are hopeful that this will create an Anisong experience unlike any other. -Anthony Beanes Director  In a previous news story reported here on this website, we reported information about Anime Expo's polices for this year. After some investigation, we have concluded the following information needs to be retracted: -Press, panelist, performers, guests, members of a guest's or performer's entourage, Artist Alley participants, exhibitors, Anime Expo staff will not need to pay for the background check 50$ fee. Anime Expo will pay for the background check. -Social Security information will only be kept to the third party company conducting the background check. Anime Expo will not keep this classified information. All those attending Anime Expo that are not attendees, will still be asked to go through the training for the SPJA Youth Program. What we did discover, is that the vendors attending Anime Expo will have to pay for the background checks, as well as the use of wifi. We spoke to one vendor, who had a conversation with us regarding the issue. Here is the following statements to what he has experienced with Anime Expo so far: Sorry to come at you this way.
