-Dean Eshom News Editor/Reviews Editor Back and bigger than ever, Myx TV's original design competition show "Call to Cosplay" is readying for Season Three. Observe contestants stress themselves creating artistic costumes within unique themes and under strict time limits. The show will premiere on Tuesday, March 22nd at 8pm/7pm Central on MyxTV.com, and CONtv, the digital streaming network, on Wednesday, March 23rd. Progressing and building on its past success, this season producers are boosting the cosplay formula with a few new elements that will heighten the stakes and keep fans guessing until the climax of every competition. "The fan reaction to 'Call to Cosplay' has been overwhelming,' said Miguel Santos, general manager of Myx TV. "This season we're going bigger in every way to amp up the energy and create even more creative unexpected challenges that will delight cosplay fans." In previous seasons, "Call to Cosplay" featured only cosplayers and con-goers as contestants, which limited the costumes that were created to familiar superheroes and anime characters. This season, producers are opening up the competition to ALL costume designers including professional costumers, models, actors and character impersonators who are passionate about creating costumes, widening the imaginative designs that the contestants will produce. For the first time ever, this season, producers are escaping the confines of a soundstage and taking viewers on a trip along the West Coast of the United States. Each episode’s competition has been inspired by the city where it was shot. Themes include “Supervillains,” filmed at the Gothic Revival-styled Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Apocalypse,” filmed at the famed Arctic Club in Seattle, originally a decadent social institution for those who struck it rich in the Yukon gold rush. Even the judges are getting an addition this season with Romeo Lacoste, a social media star and celebrity tattoo artist (with clients like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande). He will be joining the returning judges former Miss Universe, Brooke Lee; author and "New Dress a Day" fashion blogger Marisa Lynch; and beloved cosplayer "Call to Cosplay" season one grand prize champion Johnny Junkers.
So, tune into MyxTV.com on Tuesday at 8pm/7pm Central to watch this group of talent exhibit their cosplaying skills to be the best in Season Three of "Call to Cosplay." -Dean Eshom News Editor/Reviews Editor Developer Allods Team and global publisher My.com unleash the newest update for Skyforge: Dark Omen. The ever-growing anime convention met a new record attendance last year, increasing registration by 20%, entertaining over 6,000 attendees from half of the states in the nation! The four-day nerdfest is said to have made a 3.7 million dollar economic impact from attendees shopping at hotels, eating at restaurants, and staying at hotels. The convention will return to downtown Pittsburgh's David L. Lawrence Convention Center, and promises to provide attendees with the best industry-related guests, artists, shows, and vendors in an interactive and engaging community. New this year is TekkoTV, a "live" stream of selected events, guests, and interviews. There is also the "Show Your Badge Promotion," where attendees can get discounts at certain local businesses. Also, there is the Escape Room, where gaming teams compete in a safe environment aligned with themes such as ninja, alchemy, and robots. Special guests this year include the man of many voices, probably too many, Matthew Mercer, a Los Angeles-based actor known for his work in animation, video games, and theater. He can be heard as Leon Kennedy from the Resident Evil series and Levi from Attack on Titan. He is also Dungeon Master in GeekandSundry's Critical Role, a show where a bunch of nerdy-ass voice actors play Dungeons and Dragons. Mercer is in so much media that I play or watch that I sometimes hear his voice in my dreams. My girlfriend says she does, too, but I'm pretty sure it's for different reasons. Other voice actors include Marisha Ray (Critical Role's Keyleth), Micah Solusod (Soul Eater's Soul), Chris Patton (Akame ga Kill!'s Run), and Austin Tindle (Attack on Titan's Marco Bodt). Fashion guests Lynda Leung and Kawaii Ambassador Misako Aoki, comedian Karl "Uncle Yo" Custer, local musician Nancy Kepner, and "Study of Anime" website founder Charles Dunbar are also attending. For the tunes, Tekko is bringing international musical guests Back-On, a 4-man hybrid rock band, and DJ Bass from Tokyo. He will be hosting Tekko's dance events.
The convention's mainstay components include vendors, artists’ alley, panels, fashion shows, cosplay contests, dance contests, gaming, Tekko Gakkou (School Series), and much more. You'll have to attend to see it all. What is Tekko? Presented by the non-profit Pittsburgh Japanese Culture Society, Tekko is a four-day convention that creates a community for those who delight in anime and all things related to Japanese cultures. -Dean Eshom News Editor/Reviews Editor In preparation for the March 26th premiere of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's 6th season, BABSCon 2016 adds to its already ridiculous list of Guests with Denny Lu and Steph Maloney. He was also Layout Supervisor on Equestra Girls, Animation Revisionist for Pound Puppies, Animation Director on Kid vs. Kat, and Animation Posing Supervisor on George of the Jungle.
