Hello everyone, Derrick here.  As you all know, I'm the Social Media Expert for Mission Start Podcast, but first and foremost, I have been an old-school gamer ever since the late 80s when my family first received the Nintendo Entertainment System.  I've held a love for almost everything gaming-related, from competitions to speedruns, which is why an upcoming event next month holds a special place in my heart.
Games Done Quick is a week-long charity gaming marathon in which various speedrunners from Speed Demos Archive and Speed Runs Live get together and run their favorite games all to raise money for cancer research.  This event has been going since 2011, and this past Awesome Games Done Quick back during January 2014 raised an unprecedented $1,025,000 in viewer donations.  One of the biggest events that happened during this time was the 4-man Super Metroid Race between speedrunners Garrison, Krauser, Zoast, & Ivan.
June 22nd marks the Summer 2014 rendition of the charity marathon, which will be held in Denver, Colorado.  Expect to see runners such as Cosmo, MechaRichter, Caleb Hart, duckfist, Iateyourpie, Trogdor, romscout, and Dacidbro go through all their favorite games as fast as possible, all for charity.  For more information, go to https://gamesdonequick.com/.

You can also see the current schedule of games for the event here (subject to change).
